What Happens When You Smoke Salvia Divinorum? Part 1
Part 1 of 4: Introduction
Please Note: Anything written here should be taken as an opinion, not as a fact. I’m not a scientist, researcher, or an expert on Salvia divinorum. This article is based on my limited experience with Salvia divinorum, and I do not intend to promote or discourage people from legally using Salvia divinorum as a meditative supplement. Salvia divinorum is legal in many states in the U.S., but everyone should make sure it is legal where they live before they decide to buy or use the herb. Where I live, it is easy to buy at any local smoke shop.
When using Salvia divinorum, location, mental state, and people will be the primary influences on each person’s experience. It is desirable to choose an area that is far away from any person or thing that could be considered annoying, loud, angry, or downright unpleasant. It’s also advisable to stay away from anything that could potentially be dangerous, just in case someone’s trip ends up being more powerful than expected. Most people prefer to sit on the floor, or in a comfortable chair in their home when using Salvia divinorum. Sitting down can keep a person calm, and can keep them from falling down or panicking.
Although Salvia experiences differ drastically from person to person, it is possible to give someone a vague idea of what they might experience before they smoke the plant. Keep in mind that it is difficult to predict whether any single person is going to have a mild or an intense experience, and that they probably won’t know what type of experience they have had until the effects have worn off. Since the experiences can sometimes be pretty intense, people should research Salvia divinorum thoroughly and be safe if they decide that it is something that they want to smoke.
The next section will describe some things that a person can expect during a mild Salvia divinorum experience.
